Christmas a Time to Reflect and Discover Your Purpose

By Francine Ivey
During this season, it’s like the world shifts a little. People seem softer, more generous. There’s an unmistakable joy in the air, and you can feel it—everywhere.

Christmas holds a special place in my heart, but maybe not for the reasons you’d expect. Sure, I

love the festive lights, the crisp air, and gathering with family. But more than anything,

Christmas is my moment of reflection—a chance to pause, to really remember what matters.

During this season, it’s like the world shifts a little. People seem softer, more generous. There’s an unmistakable joy in the air, and you can feel it—everywhere. The music is brighter, the smiles

more genuine. It’s as if the spirit of the season pulls us back to the things that matter most.

The Ripple Effect of One Life

Christmas also reminds me of the power of one life to change the world—Jesus. Think about it. He didn’t arrive as a king in some grand palace. He came as a baby, in the most humble of places—a stable, a feed trough as his bed. That alone turns expectations upside down, right?

And yet, that tiny beginning sparked a ripple effect that would change the course of history forever.

It’s easy to think that Jesus changed the world simply because He was the Son of God, the Savior. And yes, that’s true. But don’t miss this—He also showed us what happens when one person truly answers the call of God on their life. He lived it out as a man, showing us what it looks like to fully surrender, to wholeheartedly say yes to God’s calling.

It makes me think of throwing a single stone into water. The ripples move outward, touching everything in their path. One life can set off a chain reaction. What if that life is yours?

Asking the Right Question

This season, I want to challenge you—ask yourself: What is God calling me to do? And not just in the broad, lifetime sense. I mean daily. What is God up to today, right now, and how can I join Him? The ripples of your yes can impact far beyond what you can see. One life impacts another, and then another, and we may never fully realize the magnitude of our choices until

we reach Heaven.

But just as we can choose to create a ripple of good, we can also unknowingly create ripples of negativity. It all depends on what we decide to say yes to.

Choosing Your Yes in the Face of Pain

I remember a day that forever changed my life—January 8th, 2017. That was the day my world shattered. My husband, the love of my life, went home to be with the Lord in a tragic accident. In an instant, I found myself a widow, unexpectedly left to raise three children on my own. I was broken, lost, and the weight of grief was almost unbearable.

But in the midst of that pain, I had a choice to make. I could have given in to bitterness, let anger consume me, or chosen to live in the sorrow. But instead, I chose to lay it all at the feet

of Jesus. I chose to trust Him with my broken heart because I knew He understood grief,

trauma, and loss. He had experienced it all. And in that moment of surrender, something

powerful happened. He took the shattered pieces of my life and began to rebuild them

into something new, something I could never have imagined. Out of my pain, He birthed a new purpose. He called me to take that heartbreak and turn it into something meaningful. He gave me a vision that would become Consumed Coaching—a movement of faith-driven entrepreneurs,

coaches, and leaders answering the call of God on their lives.

The Birth of Consumed Coaching

Consumed Coaching didn’t start because I was particularly qualified or special. It wasn’t born out of comfort or ease—it was born out of my “yes” in the middle of my mess. I gave God

my broken pieces, and He turned them into something extraordinary.

Since that day, God has used this ministry to reach hundreds, even thousands. I’ve had the privilege of standing on stages, sharing my story, launching a 501(c)(3) ministry,

writing books, hosting a podcast, and becoming the CEO of an elite coaching company. Not because I was the most talented or the most prepared, but simply because I gave Him my yes. Today, Consumed Coaching empowers Christian men and women to turn their God-given passions into thriving coaching businesses. We’ve trained coaches who are now leading podcasts, writing books, hosting conferences, and making a Kingdom impact worldwide. All of this because of one simple decision—to trust God with the unknown and say yes to His calling.

The Power of Your Yes

As we close out 2024 and step into a new year, I want to challenge you—what will your “yes” look like in 2025?

What is God calling you to do that feels uncomfortable, even impossible? Whatever it is, know this: when you lay it at His feet, there’s nothing too broken, too messy, or too insignificant for God to use. He has a way of taking what looks like ashes and turning it into beauty, turning pain into purpose.

The impact of your life is far greater than you can imagine. Your yes, even in the smallest moments, creates a ripple effect. And just like that stone tossed into the water, the ripple of

your obedience could change the world.

Step Boldly Into 2025

So, this Christmas, as we reflect on the gift of Jesus, let it also be a reminder of the power that lies in one person’s obedience to God. Be bold. Be audacious. Say yes to what scares you. Say yes to stepping out of your comfort zone. Your best yes could unlock doors you didn’t even know existed, leading to the most incredible chapters of your life.
