Jennifer "Jenie" Nowak

Jennifer "Jenie" Nowak is a licensed minister, bestselling author, relationship expert, heart healer, and co-founder of Freedom For Life Transformational Coaching. For more than 30 years, she has helped Christian women, couples, leaders, entrepreneurs, and parents discover that their reactions aren't random—they're revealing places in the heart that need healing. Instead of asking, "What's wrong with me?" Jenie teaches people to ask, "Where was I hurt?" Through Christ-centered heart healing, she helps uncover the hidden wounds, judgments, expectations, and inner vows driving the struggle, so lasting freedom comes not from trying harder, but from allowing Jesus to heal what has been holding them back. Her passion is seeing people exchange exhaustion for freedom and confidently walk in the purpose God created them to fulfill.

Note from Jenie

Dear Reader,

One of the first things people tell me is, “I don't really need heart healing. I'm just here to learn how to help someone else.”

I always smile and say, “I'm so glad you're here.” Because after more than 30 years of walking with people through heart healing, I've learned something: most of us don't realize we're carrying wounds because we've learned to live with them.

We adapt. We push through. We stay busy. Before long, “fine” becomes normal.

Then something happens. Someone criticizes us, overlooks us, betrays us, or says something that lands harder than it should. Suddenly we shut down, become defensive, overreact, withdraw, overwork, people-please, or try to control everything around us. We wonder, “Where did that come from?”

That question changed my life, and maybe it will change yours too.

People often ask me, “How do I know if I still have wounds that need healing?” I've found there are four places to look.

First, Scripture. The Bible never promises we won't be hurt. Isaiah speaks of untreated wounds (Isaiah 1:6). Jesus came to heal the brokenhearted (Luke 4:18; Isaiah 61:1). Peter reminds us not to be surprised by trials (1 Peter 4:12). God isn't surprised by your pain—He already has a plan to heal it.

Second, our actions, inactions, and reactions. When we're hurt, our responses often become bigger than the moment. We may become defensive, controlling, withdrawn, or driven. Our reactions aren't random; they often reveal places that still need healing.

Third, our words. Jesus said that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks (Matthew 12:34). Listen to your words when you're under pressure. They often reveal what your heart has been carrying long before you recognize it yourself.

Finally, our blind spots. We can't always see them, but we can often recognize the patterns they leave behind—the same conflicts, fears, disappointments, or feeling of being stuck. God never intended us to heal alone. A trusted James 5:16 prayer partner can often see what we cannot and lovingly point us back to Jesus.

Please hear my heart. Heart healing isn't about finding someone to blame. It's about giving Jesus access to the places where pain has quietly been shaping your life—how you see yourself, other people, and even Him.

I wrote the Freedom For Life Guided Workbook because I've watched too many sincere Christians love Jesus deeply while living beneath the freedom He purchased for them. My prayer is that these pages become more than something you read. I hope they become a conversation between you and the Holy Spirit as He reveals places that need healing and leads you into lasting freedom.

As you read, my hope is that you'll become curious instead of critical. Instead of asking, “What's wrong with me?” ask, “Jesus, where was I hurt?” Because your struggle isn't random. It's revealing something. And what Jesus reveals, He is faithful to heal.

I'm so glad you're here.

With hope,

Jenie
