Hello, dear friend!!!

If we were sitting across from each other over a cup of coffee, I would probably ask you one question:

“What’s your big dream?”

​

Maybe you have an answer ready. Maybe you have a million dreams bubbling up to the surface and you are not sure which one to pick. Maybe your heart immediately lights up with excitement.

Or maybe it doesn’t.

​

Maybe your dream feels impossible. Maybe the previous season you walked through makes dreaming feel impossible or selfish. I know as a mom of young kids, when your life is so focused on the day to day, dreaming can feel like something of the past. Dreaming can feel immature or even irresponsible.

I’ve learned something over the years:

Dreams require hope. Hope is a critical ingredient to dreaming. 

And hope is surprisingly easy to lose.

 

The past several years have been hard on all of us. We’ve experienced loss, uncertainty, heartbreak, unmet expectations, and prayers that seemed to go unanswered. Little by little, life has a way of lowering our expectations. We begin protecting ourselves from disappointment by expecting less from tomorrow.

 

But I don’t believe that’s God’s heart for His daughters.

 

One of my favorite prayers in Scripture is found in Ephesians 1:18:

“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you…”

The hope to which He has called you.

 

Not the hope the world offers. Not wishful thinking. But a deep, confident hope that is rooted in the character of God.

Hope has changed my life.

 

Years ago, I was living in New York City with what looked like a wonderful life from the outside. I had a successful career, wonderful friends, and endless opportunities. But inside, I knew something was missing. God began stirring dreams in my heart that felt completely unreasonable. Starting a Christian planner company? Leaving a secure career? Using business as ministry? I felt wildly unqualified.

 

Wildly. Unqualified. 

 

Today, through Horacio Printing, I’ve watched God do immeasurably more than I could have imagined. More importantly, I’ve discovered that His greatest work wasn’t building a business. If you have ever started a business, you are well informed on how much personal development a business creates. It is heart transforming, humbling, and refining.

That’s why I’m so honored you’re reading this magazine.

 

My prayer isn’t simply that you’ll enjoy another article or collect another piece of encouragement. My prayer is that something inside these pages rekindles hope.

That you’ll remember your story isn’t over.

That God hasn’t forgotten the dreams He’s planted within you.

 

God does not place dreams in your heart to mock you. 

And perhaps the greatest dream He wants to grow isn’t something you’ll accomplish.

 

Perhaps it’s you.

 

May these pages remind you that you are deeply loved, intentionally created, and invited to walk with a God who still brings dead things back to life.

 

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Romans 15:13).

 

He’s still writing beautiful stories.

And, friend, He’s not finished with yours.
