Abba Father Love Isn’t Earned — It’s Given

Women having coffee

Can we sit together for a moment, heart to heart, and talk about the Father?

Not just God the Almighty or God the Creator, but Abba. Father The One who calls you His beloved daughter. The One who doesn’t just love you because He has to, but because He wants to. Deeply. Joyfully. Personally.

You see, Abba doesn’t love us for what we do. He loves us for who we are—His daughters. His love isn’t something to earn, perform for, or work toward. It’s not a finish line or a reward system. It’s not performance-based or conditional. And when we treat it that way—when we think we have to act right to be right with Him—it grieves His heart. Because all He’s ever wanted… is you.

We’ve been taught, sometimes even by well-meaning voices in religion, that doing the right thing brings blessing and doing the wrong thing brings punishment. And while yes, we are accountable—and yes, our choices matter—obedience isn’t about earning love. It’s about responding to it.

He wants your heart more than your checklist.

He wants your time more than your titles.

He wants conversation more than perfection.

He wants your presence more than your performance.

Sister, how many times have we come to Him only when we need something? How often do we whisper prayers like He’s our emergency contact rather than our faithful Father?

He wants more than your requests—He wants relationship.

He adores you. Not the curated version of you. The real, messy, beautiful, tired, hopeful, trying-you. The you that gets overwhelmed, gets it wrong, tries again, and keeps going. You are the daughter He delights in. The daughter He created on purpose for a purpose.

And like a good Father, He disciplines when needed—but not from anger. From love. Not to condemn—but to restore. He doesn’t stand far off with a measuring stick. He draws near with arms open wide.

So today, can I gently invite you:

Don’t run for His approval. Run into His arms.

Don’t serve for a reward. Serve from a heart that’s in love with Him.

Don’t pray only for provision. Sit with Him just because He’s good company.

Let’s be daughters who don’t strive to be loved but rest in being chosen.

Let’s be daughters who love Him back with our whole hearts—not because we fear Him, but because we are safe in His love.

“The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, ‘Abba, Father.’”— Romans 8:15 (NIV)\

“The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in His love He will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” — Zephaniah 3:17 (NIV)

“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!”— 1 John 3:1a (NIV)
