Finding Peace in the Chaos

Updated: Sep 1

Seeking the peace of Jesus amidst the storms of life is no easy task. Being intentional is key—but how can we focus on intentionally seeking His peace when we feel overwhelmed by everything life throws our way?

Most days, I feel like a circus act: spinning plates, juggling balls, all while riding a bicycle on a tightrope. I find myself praying for the world to stop spinning just long enough for me to catch my breath—to release some of the weight I’m carrying, to recharge, and to adjust my attitude so I can keep going.

Then something happens that reminds me: God is with me. He knows how every part of my life will unfold, and it’s all for my good—my highest and best. He promises never to leave or forsake me.

“For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’” – Hebrews 13:5 (NKJV)

So why, in the midst of juggling everything, do I still feel like I’m doing it alone?

I’m not alone. And neither are you.

There are signs all around us—gentle whispers and divine pauses—that reveal God’s presence. But do we intentionally slow down to abide with the Lord and rest in His presence? I’ll admit, I don’t always. Often, it takes circumstances beyond my control—a canceled appointment, a sudden illness—for me to finally stop and listen.

In those still, quiet moments, gratitude begins to flood my heart. I become deeply aware of the blessings I so often overlook—life, family, friends, purpose. As my heart fills with gratitude, my soul begins to rest. And in that rest, I find peace. A peace that reminds me God is here. He is always guiding, always speaking.

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” – Matthew 11:28 (NKJV)

As women, we are natural jugglers. But let me gently challenge you: are the balls you're juggling even yours to carry? Have you taken on responsibilities that were never meant for you, simply because it felt easier than letting go?

What are the plates you’re spinning or the burdens you’ve picked up that God never asked you to carry? What would it look like to release them and truly rest in His presence this week?

Lighten your load. Give back what was never yours to begin with. Then, sit in the quiet space that’s left behind. Let your soul breathe. Abide with the One who restores. Only then can you truly be refreshed—ready to serve yourself, your family, and your community with a full and peaceful heart.
